Continuing the Impact of EUCD 101
Building on the Momentum of Erasmus+ Jean Monnet
Following the success of its first year, the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module EUCID (EU’s Cultural Policy: Intercultural Competence & Dialogue) continues to shape intercultural learning at Dhofar University. As the first university in Oman to receive this prestigious grant, DU remains committed to advancing global understanding through academic cooperation and cultural dialogue.
The EUCID module, awarded under Project ID 101175352 for 2024–2027, deepens students’ knowledge of European cultural policy while strengthening cross-cultural competence in the context of EU–Oman relations. Through interactive teaching, international collaboration, and student-led initiatives, the module offers meaningful opportunities for students to experience intercultural exchange beyond the classroom.
A Student-Led Cultural Exhibition Highlighting Four EU Countries
One of the major achievements of EUCD 101 students this year was the organization of a research-based Explore EU exhibition showcasing the four EU partner universities and their home countries: Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, and Italy.
The exhibition featured:
- Student-researched presentations on the cultures, histories, and identities of the four countries
- Visual displays, posters, and cultural artifacts that helped bring each country to life
- Peer-to-peer engagement, where EUCD 101 students interacted directly with visitors, explaining their findings and answering questions
- Interactive learning stations, encouraging participants to compare cultural practices and discover similarities between Oman and countries in the EU
Participants left the exhibition with a better understanding of:
- The diversity within Europe
- The significance of cultural identity
- How Erasmus+ partnerships connect DU students with global opportunities
- The importance of intercultural competence in academic and professional life
The event demonstrated that meaningful cultural dialogue doesn’t always require large stages or international travel; it can grow from student-driven initiatives rooted in research, collaboration, and creativity.
Looking Ahead to the Next Phase
As the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet EUCID module moves into its next cycle, Dhofar University continues to lead the way in intercultural understanding in Oman. Through enriched partnerships, student-led activities, and coordinated learning with partner universities namely UCLL and CZU, the EUCID program ensures that students remain globally informed, culturally sensitive, and ready to engage with an interconnected world.
